Zoey

Zoey:Welcome to CYNC radio station.

Zoe:welcome to crazy youngster.

Zoey:Emmm...Zoe, what is your feeling when you entered college?

Zoe:I feel a little confused about my study life, because when I became a college student I found that I have so many free time that my middle high school! But in this time I can't find something valuable to do.

Zoey:Oh really?I think as a sophomore, I want to enjoy my time by myself, cause that will be fullfill my goals.

Zoe:woah, how self-disciplined are you!Besides, could you tell me what is your favorite festival ?

Zoey:Let me think a while...I like spring festival most, cause in that time we can get lucky money from parents and buy a lot of snacks at home!

Zoe:Yeah I get you. We've talked so long. So what's are we talking about?Maybe you can make a guess.

Zoey:Perhaps we will talk about our college life?or the traditional festivals?

Zoe:Oh!Why you so smart?Today our topic is something that releated the festival.

Zoey:Before our program, let's enjoy the song.

Zoe: So, Zoey,do you know the implied meaning of chinese new year?

Zoey: That's for sure, when I was a child,my parents told me chinese new year means “ring the old year out and take the new year in.”

Zoe:Yes!you are  right!About today's topic We will look at some of the legends behind Chinese new year and how to celebrate it.

Zoey:Here in the US and Chinese across the world. The Chinese have specific way to celebrate their new year.If you walk down the street in Chinatown during Chinese New Year, you see a variety of ancient traditions such as red banners, firecrackers and lion dance performances, streets are filled with lively celebration.

Zoe:However, legend has said that the new year has not always been a time of festivity. An Asian Chinese story told a chilly start to this festive holiday, it begins with an ancient Chinese beast called Nian.Every New Year Nian would rise from swelling in the sea to ravage Chinese village in livestock and hurting people. The villages soon found out from a wise gray-haired old man that the only way to scare the beast away was to set off firecrackers and light lamps and to hang red banners on each door.

Zoey:As the story goes, this was the beginning of a tradition that would last thousands of years. So this story leads to the creation of many of other traditions for celebrating Chinese New Year, let's take a look at some of these traditions.

Zoe:Having been heard so much of your introduction,I exactly know the origin of chinese new year. Besides,Do you also set off firecrackers during the new year?

Zoey:Of course we will! The fireworks at Juzizhou Head in Changsha are especially famous.

Zoe:So,after seeing so much firecrackers, have you know why people set off them?

Zoey:Yeah,I think For many Chinese, New Year celebrations will not be the same without

firecrackers. These tradition originates from ancient China as a Chinese was the first to invent gunpowder as early as during the ninth century. It was believed that ghost, bad spirits and even the legendary monster called Nian that came out attack people during a new year were afraid of loud noises, so the Ancient Chinese would fill bamboo stems with gunpowder to make smell explosions to drive away Nian, evil spirits and bad luck.

Zoe:Oh,that's a wonderful answer. Apart from that do you know today in most countries for safety issues, it is illegal for individuals to light firecrackers。

Zoey:yes, and in changsha We used to have a grand Juzizhou Head fireworks party, but now it's seldom held.

Zoe:You also discovered that in fact, before those customs, as long as we remember their allusions, we know that the origin of this thing is enough, and now we have to do is

environmental protection, and pay attention to safety. That's the most important thing.

Zoey:Your thoughts are too precise. It's everyone's duty to protect the environment and set off fireworks and firecrackers.

Zoe:All right, After listening so much, Do you feel you have gained a lot of knowledge about the Spring Festival?

Zoey:If you want to introduce foreign friends, can you be competent?Ask yourself these questions secretly in your heart.

Zoe:If the answer is that all the students are super! Don't lose heart in the negative answer!Anything is possible as long as you keep listening to Zoes.

 Zoey:Well, that's all for today's program.

 Zoe:So let's see you next time.Bye~
